nirvana, Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Did Nirvana actually start the 90s?

You can't talk 90's without some Korn, Limp Bizkit, Offspring, and Green Day!
I was leaning more towards songs like "Self Esteem", "Something to believe in", and "Bad Habit"
From Korn: "A.D.I.D.A.S.", "Lowrider", "Twist".... hell anything off of the "Life is Peachy" album.
From Limp Bizkit... well we all know about them!

Ah yes, pre-"rolling" limp bizkit. You know everyone slams them now, but back in 1998 everywhere, like everywhere, new york atlanta, out west, all my friends were playing them non-stop. This takes me back to free shows they'd put on at the milk-bar, three dolla bill!

I was jammin some Keoki (Ego Trip) last night. I love that album!

That was the best era of Club Five, I think. They did late techno and early house better than anyone.
I'm really missing that place. Especially after recently seeing Atlanta's little 5 points with a similar club still going strong today.

Presidents of the United States, Peaches.
When this song hit, I was living in the U district in Seattle. They were still a local band and would play at the boulangerie in wallingford, which was a coolio district back then.
It made me miss the peaches here.
Sweet! I'm visiting Seattle for the first time in two weeks. I might attempt to tap you for local knowlege in another thread if you don't mind.
Now that you've mentioned Pres I can't help but think of Weird Al's gump:

... ahhh the good 'ol days....
Stephen,
You've inspired me to look up three of my favorite music videos from the late '90s, the era when MTV2 played videos and only videos ALL THE TIME. During the summer of '97 or '98 they played every music video ever made from A through Z ... I was unusually pale that summer.
First ...
Gus Gus, Believe

I remember that summer well! It took them how many months to get through it all, 3? Eitherway, I was in heaven with M2 back then, they really played alot of bsides, underground or just plain never heard of before music. This was well before the days of sat radio & even before napster, so it was hard to find good music back then, but of course the reality shows slowly crept onto m2 which still baffles me to this day.
There was a song I never thought I would hear again. I knew this girl who always was drunk by the end of the night and always wanted to hear KLF and Tammy Wynette.
I think the anthem for the 90's is the song "Freshmen" by the Verve Pipe.
Thanks for the morning symphony.
This one takes me back to oldwave night in the green room at the milk bar and the outside patio @618:

stephendare,
check your browser or audio settings or something... i have no problem listening to this song or any of the others you have posted. that sucks...so you can't even HEAR these songs you are posting?
Her song makes me cry and I'm with the one I love. It is very painful to hear. It reminds me that I am vulnerable. Now, "Burning Down the House", that makes me happy. Explain that! oops. Wrong thread.
10 Things I Hate About You...with the now deceased Ledger.
No real video of this mix, but anyone in the club scene in 1996 has to remember this.

IMHO, One of the best post hardcore bands. Plus the drummer is now in battles and still ruling.

Watching the Edie Brickell video all I could think was more cowbell! I love Portishead but the new album bites. Helmut rocks as do Smashing Pumpkins!
aaaah edie brickell, I loved that song
Not sure how the Catherine Wheel's been left off this list. I don't consider this to be their best song but I chose to post it because it features Tanya Donnelly (of Throwing Muses and Belly fame).

One More, The Chills "Male Monster from The Id". Youtube has appeared to have deleted the videos in response to the lawsuit, but MTV still has it. Unfortunately you have to sit through an ad to get to the song...
