Love the name "The Volstead".
And the location, moving further into the core from the usual Bay strip, was an excellent move. I'm not sure of any interfaces with the church(s), but in any case, I want to thank the First Baptist Church for assistance, even if only silence, with this much needed bit of life in the central core.
The fact that these creative and dedicated fellows (and very much welcomed by me) were able to work through the hurdles of this project is a signal of hope for the central core, and might motivate others with viable business ideas to avoid the seemingly less risky outlying areas such as King St., San Marco, Five Points etc., and take the more exciting and challenging plunge into the central core area.
These days, I don't drink as much as I used to, but I intend to support these fellows via any way possible, and by an occasional visit to enjoy a drink, the "different" ambiance, the music, and the occasional friend .... well..... I'll just sit alone.
Forge Ahead Guys.

It is, and apparently they are showing prohibition era black and white films on monday nights.
We are going to be there for the next one if this is so.
We were there for the inaugural showing earlier this week. It was King Kong, which was filmed in 1933 by Jacksonville's native son Merian Caldwell Cooper who grew up just 5 blocks from the Volstead downtown.
Cool! Please post details of the next Prohibition Era movie nights. I would love to come.
