December 10th, 2013 the SAC/PTA will be meeting from 4:30 to 5:30 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM there will be a Townhall Meeting. Please come out and support the community as they continue through the process of undoing the work of the Daughters of the Confederacy in renaming Valhalla High School after the 1st Grand Wizard of the KKK, Nathan Bedford Forrest.

no one showed up.

It is either because there is no public support to change a name put in place 54 years ago or they knew the school board already had plans.

Either way it is cr@p.

Whether anyone showed up at the rally is sad (and I heard that some did show up), but moot - Monday night (Dec. 16) the DCPS Board voted 7-0 to remove the name "Nathan Bedford Forrest" from that high school on Firestone Road.  They will now meet with students, faculty, alumni, and the community to select a new name.  Since, by DCPS Policy, the name cannot be after any person, leading contenders seem to be "Westside" and "Firestone".
