Title: Poetry Isn't Safe: a kickstarted performance documentary
Post by: gmpalmer on December 04, 2013, 08:47:51 AM
Attention Bibliophiles and Closet Poets! (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1348543899/poetry-isnt-safe-a-new-best-reading-ever-film)

I'm posting this to help kick up some more support for this project spear-headed by me: local teacher, filmmaker, and poet G.M. Palmer.

Poetry shouldn't be safe as anyone who has ever truly read any should know. To completely steal and substitute new words into a line by Kafka, a poem "should be the axe for the frozen sea inside us."

If a whole lot of people chip in a little, I'll be that much closer to realizing this great endeavor. So chip in! Spread poetry throughout the modern age that its relevance and utter importance as food for our souls will never be stamped out!

Last year I made a modest film of our reading in Boston. The readings were great but the film quality left much to be desired. For our reading in Seattle, I have secured the cinematographic talents of the excellent John Allen Harrett and a slate of excellent and nationally recognized poets:

Claire McQuerry
David Yezzi
Emily O'Neill
Erica Dawson*
G.M. Palmer*
Jessica Piazza
Jill Alexander Essbaum
Joshua Mehigan
Michael P. Bobbitt*
Moira Egan
Nick Courtright
Tara Skurtu*

*Floridian poets

I would love your support and promotion. Every dollar counts!
