Nice. Thanks for the tour and history.
Nice yes. I've gone fishing there many times.
If anyone is interested, this is the master improvement plan that the Memorial Park Association is trying to raise money in order to improve upon the park:

thanks for posting the master plan. It is very comprehensive on the history, and future of the park. It would be nice to see something similar for Confederate/Klutho park. It is a shame how many of our great parks, buildings, and features have deteriorated.
I just had a hand painted Adirondack chair made with an artist rendering of Memorial Park painted on it. Probably the most beautiful piece of patio furniture on earth (at least in my opinion).

Obviously you've enjoyed it Keith, thus you just ruined it for everyone else. Expect the 'NO FISHING' signs to go up tomorrow.

It is also known on the fishing web sites.
I lived on river blvd for a long while back when the tornado came through and tore up those beautiful trees...i wept the morning after when light revealed the damage..cool old pictures...beautiful park
I think is Jacksonville's favorite park.
If you go south, take a look at Bok Tower. This is another Olmstead garden, that has been restored, and really cool. There is a beautiful mansion on the grounds, that is also well worth visiting. He really did some great gardens, and landscaping, focusing on the whole experience of the visitor.
