There are going to have a special on NFL Network. I expect the Jags to have more than the one primetime game they had last year. The most interesting thing to see will be if the Jags play on Thanksgiving. It will either be them or Tennessee.
ooh...that will be a close one - i mean, between the jags or tennessee...tenn has the star power of vince and a rising team (along with a bigger market), but we still have the overall better team that went to the playoffs and won the first round last year (in Pitt, right?). i would give the edge to us on this one.
Imo, I'd give the edge to the Jags. Tennessee doesn't have much outside of Vince and he's overrated to a certain degree.
Jags are becoming the media darlings lately. I kind of expect us to land the Thanksgiving game. We will blow Detroit out of the water. I am off for the 2 weeks around that from work, I may try to make the trip to see it in person. I'll have turkey before I leave ;)
Quote• The NFL is releasing the 2008 schedule today. Insiders are saying the Jaguars may have as many as five nationally televised primetime games this season including â€" possibly â€" the traditional Thanksgiving afternoon game at the Detroit Lions. The Jaguars are hosting the annual “Open House†season ticket event, from 9 a.m.â€"4 p.m. Saturday, when fans are invited to roam around the stands at Municipal Stadium and try out the seats that are still available. For details, visit www.jaguars.com.
^ Wow, noy that is impressive!
If the Jags can pull off a good show on that many prime time games then there will be no room for anymore whining that "nobody has every heard of Jacksonville".
No Thanksgiving game....
QuoteJaguars 2008 schedule features three nationally-televised games

The offshoot of playoff success for the Jaguars comes in the form of nationally-televised games.
So for the first time since 2000, the club landed three such outings, the NFL announced Tuesday, when it released the league’s 2008 schedule.
The Jags host Pittsburgh for a rematch of the 2007 AFC wild-card playoffs on Oct. 5 at 8:15 p.m. (NBC) for the first of their nationally-televised prime-time games. The club later travels to Houston to meet the Texans for an 8:30 p.m. ESPN matchup on Monday Night Football, before closing out its AFC South schedule by hosting Indianapolis on Dec. 18 (NFL Network).
The Jaguars play two of their first three outings on the road and three of their first four opponents come against divisional foes. The club opens at Tennessee (1 p.m.) on Sept. 7 and plays host to Buffalo (1 p.m.) the following week before traveling to Indianapolis on Sept. 21 for a 4:15 p.m. kickoff. The Jags host Houston the following week.

It's the type of schedule the league gives top tier playoff teams. The key games are always the divisonal games. Gotta have the opener at Tenn., the monday nighter at Houston along with the home games for those teams and split one with the colts. 5-1 in the division will win you the division and get us that elusive home playoff game.
Monday Night against Houston. What kind of bull...?
This is not going to be an easy schedule, but it will be fun. How about getting Green Bay on Sunday, then Indy four days later.

I think that's a matter of A good team playing in A big market. (the good team just isn't the big market team)
The division games are the toughest on the schedule. Coincidentally they are also some of the toughest games in the league.
Two of the three prime-time games against division teams and of course the ultimate grid iron rivalry game against the Steelers here at home. This is going to be a great season if the team is competitive.
I see a 12-4 or another 11-5 season. If the Jags can thump Tennessee in the opener and then Indy in week 3, we should be up for an amazing season of maybe 14-2. Either way I predict all of the losses will be divisional.
I wouldn't completely guarantee a Pittsburgh/Green Bay/Cleveland win.
Remember, the Jaguars always have their "lay an egg" game. Here's how I see it play out:
1 Sun, Sep 7 at Tennessee 1:00 PM (Win - Remember Last Year?)
2 Sun, Sep 14 Buffalo 1:00 PM (Win)
3 Sun, Sep 21 at Indianapolis 4:15 PM (Loss)
4 Sun, Sep 28 Houston 1:00 PM (Win)
5 Sun, Oct 5 Pittsburgh 8:15 PM (Win, but will be very close)
6 Sun, Oct 12 at Denver 4:05 PM (Win)
8 Sun, Oct 26 Cleveland 4:05 PM (Loss - Lay an Egg Game)
9 Sun, Nov 2 at Cincinnati 1:00 PM (Win)
10 Sun, Nov 9 at Detroit 1:00 PM (Win - they're the Lions)
11 Sun, Nov 16 Tennessee 1:00 PM (Win)
12 Sun, Nov 23 Minnesota 1:00 PM (Win)
13 Mon, Dec 1 at Houston 8:30 PM (Loss - never played them well, and on the road in Houston's only PT Game)
14 Sun, Dec 7 at Chicago 1:00 PM (Win)
15 Sun, Dec 14 Green Bay 1:00 PM (Loss - I'm impressed with Aaron Rodgers)
16 Thu, Dec 18 Indianapolis 8:15 PM (Win)
17 Sun, Dec 28 at Baltimore 1:00 PM (Win, unless there is nothing to play for)
That will get them to 12-4.
The thursday night game on NFL Network will be shown on a local station right? I don't want to miss that game
I didnt catch the entire segment but i heard talk radio speaking the other day about the nfl network not being around too much longer. Dont know the reasons or anything.

NFL Policy requires that for any game televised on cable, the markets for the competing teams will have one "over the air" station, provided the game is not blacked out

From a NFL fan's (non-Jags) prospective, I can kinda see the pessimistic POV concerning the Jax vs. Hou game, but if you're a Jag fan, I don't know how you can't get pumped for that game. The Texans are a team that put us outta the playoffs a coupla years ago! You can play sixteen games against Indy, BTW a team that don't respect us as a true rival. Screw Indy! We're goin' 19-0! I can't wait until the season starts!

That will get them to 12-4.
Not a bad take. The Jags have an amazing prime-time record and because of the fact that two of the three are at home they should be 3-0 with the national audience. IMO, the "Lay and egg" game will be a divisional one. Similar to a couple years back when it seemed the losing Texans had their number.
Green Bay will lose some of their thunder without Favre but may get it together late in the season to give the Jags a fight. Still predict a win though.
Chicago, Cinci, and Cleveland should all be wins (assuming history repeats itself).

I was thinking the exact same thing man!! Those were the sadface games I had on my list. But all in all the worst is 10-6. Thats the worst record I see happening this season. If they go 9-7 or worse it will be a disaster!!
Here are my predictions...
1 Sun, Sep 7 at Tennessee 1:00 PM (Loss - Tenn is strong and up & coming and we are notorious for starting the season slow - and AT Tenn)
2 Sun, Sep 14 Buffalo 1:00 PM (Win)
3 Sun, Sep 21 at Indianapolis 4:15 PM (Win - a surprise)
4 Sun, Sep 28 Houston 1:00 PM (Win)
5 Sun, Oct 5 Pittsburgh 8:15 PM (Loss - the two teams are very close and we have won the last 2 -give them this one)
6 Sun, Oct 12 at Denver 4:05 PM (Win)
8 Sun, Oct 26 Cleveland 4:05 PM (Win)
9 Sun, Nov 2 at Cincinnati 1:00 PM (Loss)
10 Sun, Nov 9 at Detroit 1:00 PM (Win - but closer than you might think)
11 Sun, Nov 16 Tennessee 1:00 PM (Win)
12 Sun, Nov 23 Minnesota 1:00 PM (Win)
13 Mon, Dec 1 at Houston 8:30 PM (Win - it's a Monday night game that we won't lose)
14 Sun, Dec 7 at Chicago 1:00 PM (Win - this one could be very close though)
15 Sun, Dec 14 Green Bay 1:00 PM (Win)
16 Thu, Dec 18 Indianapolis 8:15 PM (Loss)
17 Sun, Dec 28 at Baltimore 1:00 PM (Win)
So...yeah, I see a 12-4 season...and agree with Cooly that anything less than 10-6 is a poor season for this team.
