Title: STREETCAR ADVOCACY - MASS TRANSIT ADVOCACY - JOIN US!
Post by: Ocklawaha on November 27, 2013, 11:53:48 PM
DEAR:
FRIENDS OF MASS TRANSIT

I met with Glenn Close (jdog on metrojacksonville.com forums) today at Starbucks in WGV, he is a very impressive gentleman. He has already created basic organizational outlines, agendas for a first and second meeting of those who are interested (see attachments). He will serve as a part of the Corporate Board and as an accountant, he volunteer to be the resident agent of our new 501c3. Glenn has no experience in transit planning but he will make a great organization administrative officer and has experience with non profit organizations. Just as we have been planning, he also thought about an over-all-board and special committees for each modal-project area.

I worked with him on names of others we need to pull in as well as a fairly good list of people I have had positive responses from. We hope to meet in a couple of weeks on a Tue's night at Pizza Palace in San Marco, Jacksonville (at least thats the present idea). Based on the mail I've received we should have a good turnout. At that time we can outline our ideas, and collect the names and expertise of particular people for the board and various modal committees.

Please respond with your interest in being part of this movement by sending an email message to the address below. We want to hit the ground running, we'll be posting the first meeting date and confirm the location soon.

WELCOME ABOARD
Robert W. Mann

I think if you guys stick to grass roots advocacy and education on transit, you will do much, much better than trying to enact any form of political change directly.
