Florida East Coast to operate Toys for Tots special train
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida East Coast Railway will operate its fourth annual Toys for Tots Christmas Train between Jacksonville and Miami on December 14.
In coordination with Toys for Tots, Santa Claus will deliver a contribution of toys to representatives in eight Florida cities. Representatives of the United States Marine Corps also will be on hand at each stop to receive donated toys and distribute them to needy children in local communities. The train is traditionally pulled by one of the railroad's "Heritage" locomotives painted in FEC's red, yellow, and silver scheme used from 1939 to 1962.
The Christmas Train will stop at the railroad crossings at the locations listed below (all times are approximate):
Jacksonville, Mussels Acres Road-West, 7:10 a.m.
St. Augustine, San Sebastian View Crossing-East, 8:10 a.m.
New Smyrna Beach, Canal Street-East, 10:05 a.m.
City Point (Cocoa), Beau Geste Crossing-East, 11:40 a.m.
Fort Pierce, Orange Avenue Crossing-West, 1:25 p.m.
West Palm Beach, 36th Street Crossing-East, 2:55 p.m.
Ft. Lauderdale, SW 17th Street Crossing-West, 4:20 p.m.
North Miami, NE 87th Street Crossing-West, 5:10 p.m.

Florida East Coast 2013 Christmas Train surpasses goal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida East Coast Railway's 2013 Toys for Tots Christmas Train surpassed last year's fundraising by more than 139 percent and delivered more than 2,250 toys to each of eight locations along the route.
During the Dec. 14 trip from Jacksonville to Miami, toys were distributed to representatives of the United States Marine Corps, for local Toys for Tots programs.
"We are extremely proud and want to thank everyone who made this event possible. It is because of this compassionate giving that many children in the communities we serve welcomed Christmas morning with a gift from Santa," CEO Jim Hertwig says.
In its fourth consecutive year, the FEC Christmas Train has established itself as a premier fundraising event for FEC employees, customers, vendors, and suppliers. This year's fundraising totals more than $275,000.
