Title: Hello - New To Forum
Post by: rutabaga on November 22, 2013, 03:59:30 AM
Been watching for a spell.  Thought I'd converse occasionally when I believe I can contribute.

Seems to be a nice group of posters.

And the subjects are interesting too.

Been in Jax most of my life.

Moved back to Jax recently.  Years ago, lived on Westside.  Plan to move downtown.  Rental preferred.  What's the main difference between the Carling and Ten East?  Other options near center city?  I also saw a place on Church?  I like the north side of river.  Thanks Noone.

Welcome, and to your question about the difference between the Carling and 11 East. I have been in both places several times, and both are beautifully restored buildings. The Carling seems Grander, especially the lobby, but that is just my opinion, and is closer to Laura St, and Chamblin's (the most awesome place downtown). 11 East is closer to the river, The Elbow, and has slightly better views.

Welcome welcome. I agree with CG7 re the buildings. The Carling is closer to stuff on Laura and the interiors are terrific. 11 E is closer to the bars. Both are extremely nice restorations.

The Church St residential is Metropolitan Lofts. They're pretty nice, but location-wise I'd much rather be at Carling or 11 East if I had to live downtown.
