Title: Metro Jacksonville Photography Intern
Post by: Andrew Smith on November 05, 2013, 04:00:22 PM
Hello, my name is Andrew Smith and I am a senior at the University of North Florida. Although my major is public relations, I really love photography. Ever since I was a kid, I have been interested in the subject. I not only enjoy taking photos, I also like looking at them and figuring out what the story is behind them. I also really like doing photo projects including slideshows and collages. I even had a wall in my bedroom  for seven years that was covered in over 100 photos, I called it my "Photo Wall". I know, creative, right?
This past summer I had the opportunity to work as a photography intern with JaxParks (the Jacksonville Parks Department.) Some of my work is even featured on their Facebook page.
I am excited to be working once again as a photographer and hope to learn more and develop my skills even further.
I hope everyone is having a great day,

-Andrew Smith

Welcome Andrew!

Photography question for you, as you sound quite knowledgeable on the subject:

My wife and I have our first baby on the way in December, and I'm interested in picking up a DSLR camera to capture the fun. Any recommendations? I truthfully don't know much about the different brands, or what lenses one typically needs for general purpose photography.

Thanks good sir :)

Andrew.

No matter Ennis tells you at the office or hints at in his voicemails, please know that you DO NOT have to pick up the bill for MetroJax's extravagant dinners or finance his cross-country jetsetting ways.

Welcome Andrew, looking forward to seeing more of your work.  Glad to see MJ keeping so many Ospreys around!

Also Andrew if Ennis, Stephen and the rest of the board ask for Jet-Ski's it's ok to say no.   Just because Tannehill couldn't say no doesn't mean you can't.

I am no expert, but my brother has a Canon EOS 7d, and loves it.  It's great, I stopped worrying about having a camera at family functions, trips etc. because he and my sister in law do all the work!   ;D

Hey, can any of you photography people recommend a decent all-purpose lens?

Not super impressed with the Canon kit lens.

Looking for an upgrade that isn't necessarily going to break the bank either.
