Title: Governor Crist to change parties .... Again
Post by: JayBird on November 01, 2013, 05:55:18 PM
First a Republican, then an Independent and now ... A Democrat. Is there a reason to keep changing parties? Can't you keep the same party and just sway to conservative or liberal within that party?

QuoteTALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Former Florida Republican governor turned Democrat Charlie Crist has filed paperwork to run for his old job with his new party.

The state Division of Elections posted the filing on its website Friday. Crist couldn't be immediately reached for comment, but has an announcement scheduled for Monday morning in St. Petersburg.

Crist has been building up to an announcement for months, talking to Democratic groups and campaigning with Democratic candidates. That includes President Barack Obama last year.

He has already set up a website, and his speeches recently have criticized Republican Gov. Rick Scott.

Scott's political committee has already bought anti-Crist ads to begin airing the day of the announcement and the race is expected to be one of the most expensive, brutal governor's races in the county next year.

From the title, I thought he was changing from the Democratic Party (which he joined some months ago) to another party ... like maybe the Opportunistic Party.

If you just plan on voting against one of the two major party candidates, give Adrian Wyllie a look. He is who I'll be voting for.

You could in the '80's and '90's but it is almost impossible now.  There are a few exceptions across the country, but it is a dying breed.  For Crist to beat Scott in a GOP primary would be a herculean task.  I'm not a big Crist fan, but better him that four more years of Scott. I wish Sink had run unopposed, but she could beat both Crist and Scott.

Sink is running for a Tampa congressional seat (special election) now.  It's probably for the best that it turned out that way.

It is sad that this appears to be the best the democrats have to offer against an unpopular governor.  I'd prefer not to be stuck with Crist for 4 years, or whenever he decides to run for the Senate again.

I will never vote for an opportunist, even if they (temporarily) agree with my own views.  I would rather place the governance of my family in the hands of someone with values and the character to stand behind them.  While I don't agree all of the time with any politician, the ones who change their stance according to the latest poll or fashion make it easy on me at election time.

You'd never vote for an opportunist? So you've never voted and never will vote?

He is in favor of legalizing medical marijuana, so as of right now, he's got my vote. and everyone here should considering voting for him as well, he is better than what we currently have. We need a new attorney general as well. Bondie vowels to block the legalization of medical marijuana.
