Title: San Jose, Dixie Farms or something else?
Post by: thelakelander on September 28, 2013, 09:30:03 AM
I have a question for long time Jaxsons. What's the neighborhood name of the area straddling Powers Avenue, between University, Old Kings and FEC's Bowden Yard?  Most of the recorded plats refer to Dixie Farms. I've also seen references to it as being a part of San Jose but this is slightly west of the original San Jose development.

There is actually a placard/sign in the neighborhood on Victor street indicating its historic name.  I just can't remember it off hand.

And, its neither San Marco, Old San Jose, Miramar or Dixie Farms.

I believe either Larsen or Pine Forest is the neighborhood on the north side of University.

It's San Jose, but that includes areas beyond what's highlighted in that image.

I apologize. Its early and I should have paid more attention to your description. The area I described is Larsen and Tacachale is right about it being San Jose.

My father grew up on Hendricks (miramar) and went to Dupont when it was an upper school. I've never heard that area referenced as anything but San Jose.
