Title: How the GOP Uses Alvin Brown
Post by: Cheshire Cat on July 25, 2013, 04:05:16 PM
The President is in town and some of the words used by GOP  leadership to impune the President are words uttered by Democrat Alvin Brown.  This would be the Alvin Brown who was not available to meet the first Black Democrat President on a prior visit because he decided to go to a conference. The same guy who failed to see the reason behind the GLBT community's need to enjoy civil rights accorded to others.  Looks like the GOP got their moneys worth with Brown and the Democrat party still refuses to admit to themselves that they are standing behind a "faux" Democrat who is in fact just another politician working on his own career.

Prior to the last election for mayor I stated we would not see a "Democrat" elected to the office of mayor.  I rest my case.  We got a "Republocrat"!  ;)

This from today's T.U.

Related: Tuesday's council vote to reject Mayor Alvin Brown's pension deal was 'political drama, Jacksonville style'

"A loss of this magnitude may happen once or twice in a mayor's term," he said. "Twice on one night demonstrates Mayor Alvin Brown's abject failure in persuasion, leadership and governing"

MOST politicians, even if they did whatever it took to get elected, don't turn their backs on the people that got them elected.

Really??  Did not realize policitians listen to their constituents.  Guess you live in a different world.  I guess my overall point is that the democrats or republicans are both pretty competent at not listening to their constituents once in office.

Why do you suppose that is?  A discussion remains to be had about this.  :)

Maybe he's crazy... like a fox.

REFUSE TO RAISE TAXES

CLOSE THINGS

REFUSE TO RAISE TAXES

CLOSE THINGS

REFUSE TO RAISE TAXES

CLOSE THINGS

The end result would naturally be a revolt by the council and a DEMAND TO RAISE TAXES. Make the Republican's in the Council raise the taxes and you've got a hell of a position.

I said the same thing somewhere on the forum.  The taxes get raised and he keeps his promise.  But what is so bizarre is that the tax raise will do nothing to address the shortfalls that will be coming in the budget after this one.  Kind of a short sighted approach while the city falls further into difficulty.

Politicians look after those that voted for THEM.  Statesmen look after everybody, unfortunately, there aren't many of those.
