This Saturday, July 27, 2013, The Jacksonville Landing and Jax Truckies will come together to host downtown's next food truck rally on the Northbank Riverwalk. If successful, Truckin' On The River could become a recurring monthly food truck event at the Jacksonville Landing.

Bumping this up. If Saturday is successful, this could become a regular monthly event. B/w this and Community First Saturday, downtown would have two monthly events where food trucks gather.
As always, we are raising money for a non-profit... this time Childrens Miracle Network.
You can crown your favorite truck the 'Children's Champion' by purchasing a $1 raffle ticket, which also gives you a chance to win tickets to Suns game, tickets to a Jags game, a eco-kayak tour, a weekend stay at the Hyatt, tickets to Lego Land and even a life-sized statue of Jack Daniels painted with a Jacksonville theme.
All ticket sales and a portion of truck sales go directly to Childrens Miracle Network. The event starts at 6pm in the riverfront parking lot in b/w the Landing and the Hyatt.
Cannot wait - will be entertaining to watch the homeless interact with the bohemians and see what comes of it. Sunday Times Union should have at least one aggravated battery and maybe a related shooting.
Very cosmopolitan...
If you've never had Happy Grilled Cheese... don't. Go elsewhere [twirls mustache as he hoards all the crunch melts]
Despite Max's ignorant claims, this should be a fun event. I would encourage you to come out, enjoy some time along the St Johns River, be patient waiting in line and help us raise some money for a great cause!
Looking forward to it.
This a daytime event. There have been several events at the street between the Landing and the Performing Arts. I don't think there will be any trouble.
How late will this go?? I've got to run down to G-ville, but i'd like to grab some food truck dinner if possible. I have come to love just swinging by the Aardwolf parking lot for some takeout grub. It's a shame that other breweries aren't permitted to offer the same service.

I am in Happy Grilled Cheese withdrawal right now. I plan to try something I've never had before and take a Porky the Melt home for 2nd dinner.
I would encourage you to come early (to ensure you get something before trucks run out of food), stay late (drink specials from Coca-Cola, Jack Daniels, Miller and Bacardi all night), enjoy the music and have good time.
Besides just food trucks, this is meant to get people downtown for a good cause.
Fionn MacCools will also have live music on the patio. If you don't want to stand in line at a food truck then places like Fionns, Koja, Chicago Pizza, etc will be open. Live music will also be going on in the courtyard of the Landing.
Additionally, if you are looking for a good Christmas present or something unique for your bar at home, an engraver from Jack Daniels (all the way from Tennessee) will be on site to make a custom Jack Daniels label on a bottle you purchase from the package store inside the Landing.
My cousins will all be getting one for Christmas :)
Your cousins are very lucky! Dad says don't forget your Uncles too! lol See everyone Saturday at the Landing!

A great event and the community hopes that it raises 10's of thousands of dollars.
Bumping this up for today. With the purchase of a $1 raffle ticket you can vote for your favorite truck to be awarded the 'Childrens Champion' designation and enter for a chance to win great prizes like this life-sized statue of Jack Daniels with the Jacksonville skyline painted at the bottom.

Looking forward to biking up there later today.
Just got home. Great crowd despite the early rain! Based on preliminary ticket counts, we had well over 5,000 people in attendance.
Thank you to everyone that came out. It looks like we raised an impressive amount for Children's Miracle Network. We gave away over 200 tshirts, 30 Suns tickets, 8 Jaguar tickets, a weekend stay at the Hyatt, dance lessons, massage gift certificates, kayak rentals and even a life size statue of the Jack (Daniels that is) sporting a Jacksonville skyline at the base.
The Jacksonville Landing staff is always an impressive group to work with. At 65 years young, Toney Sleiman outworks 20 year olds with ease.
Awesome update. Congratulations Mike and to all involved.

Glad to hear everything went well. Sounds like this may be an event that will happen again!
