The City is reviewing plans and a building-permit application for tenant improvements to convert the former Pizza Palace near Five Points into a 7-Eleven convenience store.
No contractor is listed for the $457,000 project to renovate the 2,532-square-foot store.

It's about time they started on that building. Their COA signs have been up for months, even before the started the one across from St. Vincents that is already open. Everyone in the neighborhood except the jiffy store across the street from this location has been looking forward to having them there.
It's going to awkward to reach them on foot though. That intersection is not pedestrian friendly.
Isn't that a Sleiman owned building? If so, I figure the delay may have had something to do with the moratorium fight a few months back. I suspect you'll see several 7-Elevens going up all across town over the next few months.
Wasn't that the original Pizza Palace? I kinda liked that place, had outdoor seating and was always busy. 7-11 replacing it is NOT exciting to me :( (didn't even know PP closed).
No that's not a Sleiman owned building. It is owned by the Fink family of Seminole, FL. I think it has been in that family for a long time and they won't sell it.
It's the old Hardees. I would rather have that back then a 7-11.

Sounds like they are pretty smart. That's a good piece of property and the value is only going to rise as Riverside continues to grow in popularity.

That Pizza Palace has been closed for at least a year already, you cant miss it that bad. lol ;)
Fried Chicken, biscuits, and a peach shake. Hardee's was good back then. Carl's Jr on the west coast was great too. The merger did not bring the best of each. At lease now you'll be able to get a Slurpee.
Most of us would rather have had the Pizza Palace stay there than anything else.
Anything there is better than that Pizza Palace.
It would be nice to have another restaurant rather than a 7-11. Its such a great little spot.

Maybe this 7-11 will cater to riverside with Sushi, pizza, 7-11 brand craft beers and bicycle parts.

I have tried the pizza and wings at the State Street Location and they aren't bad. I mean it's not gourmet but pretty good for a fast cheap snack. And it wasn't 3am ;) about 11:30pm. :)
The original pizza palace was on king street. I think everyone in my age group worked there at one point. It lost it's identity when moving, in my opinion. I personally love that it's turning into a 7-11 versus a cell phone shop or a e cig joint. The more we fill up the spaces in 5 points, the better. I remember the good ol' days when it was blasphemy for a vacancy.
