Title: Fedex Ground Center = 250 jobs
Post by: TheCat on June 04, 2013, 03:21:00 PM
QuoteDocuments filed the past week with the City indicate the proposed FedEx Ground Package System distribution center at Cecil Commerce Center will employ at least 250 people and add more for seasonal work.
The count of 150 full-time and 100 part-time employees was included in an application for a zoning deviation for parking. A site plan indicates in the fine print that the project is for FedEx.

This is certainly great news as jobs are badly needed.  Plus, certainly a feather in the Cecil Field cap.

How many of those jobs are already at the lane ave distribution location? I am doubting there will be more than 10 net jobs created.

Disappointing. In that case, that isn't news at all. They're just moving? Nice to Cecil filling up, but not at expense of near westside. Oh thats right, Lane Ave will become "economic upswing development" from the construction of the Beltway. Silly Jax, planning is for stooges.

Since Cecil is subsidized, most of your newer distribution hubs there will be at the expense of privately owned industrial properties.
