and a real estate council and a relationship with the Northeast Florida Builders Association.

Three days after the surprisingly closely held news was announced that Florida Rep. Daniel Davis will become president and CEO of the JAX Chamber on July 1, starting what the chamber proclaims as "a new day," Davis outlined several actions he intends to take:
• He wants to create a Real Estate Council to add to the nine chamber councils that exist to cover geographic areas and specialized interests. Davis is executive director of Northeast Florida Builders Association and said Friday he wants the two organizations to work together.

So in 8 Months we can fully expect a Chamber backed fight against the mobility fee escalation?

Great thats all we need. The already neutered Chamber of Commerce to be subverted under a real estate development organizational chart.
This is contrary to the interests of the business community, and will come to no good end.
you may be right....but I'm hoping it is just one of the councils....in addition to 6 that are geographic area-based (like the Downtown Council), there are already Health and IT Councils

Bingo Bridges! Daniel Davis has successfully used his public service involvements to further the interests that most impact his personal agenda. This is old style political gamesmanship. Seen it over and over, the difference this time around is that more people have begun to understand how the local political game is played. The chamber has always been a relatively strong arm in local politics while logistically positioned as a "promoter" of Jacksonville. The problem is whose agenda's and ideas are being supported and promoted.

It may be one council but it will be a council with an agenda that will place sprawl and issues of mobility fees and public incentives before city officials in a very "noisy" way. lol All kidding aside, expect a lot of grinning and back slapping going on in backrooms that will lead to specific and purposeful influence on behalf of some select people and the groups they represent. Davis represents old school values, ideas and interactions that have kept Jacksonville more backwoods than it should be at this time in our history. My hope in this will be that there are those connected to the chamber and Civic Council that have recently shown a desire to change direction and attitude when it comes to growing our core. I hope Peter Rummel, John Delaney and Jim Bailey will work to help educate Daniel and keep him from taking the chamber backwards. This is not the time to let "southern manners" stand in the way of progress or good ideas.
