The vision will be released at this public event and individuals and organizations will immediately start implementing the 10 vision statements. There are many opportunities for everyone in our community to participate in and contribute to the implementation of JAX2025.

Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown, honorary chair of the initiative, will attend the event to release the vision. The event will also include distribution of the vision document, a video presentation and featured speakers.

The 10, non-ranked areas of the vision are: education, economy, distinctive neighborhoods and a vibrant downtown, arts and entertainment, a diverse and inclusive community, a place where people matter, a clean and green city, exemplary governance, transportation, and a healthy community.

JCCI will coordinate implementation efforts and provide yearly updates to measure the progress toward 2025. Real progress will be evident soon and the goal is to reach all the stated outcomes in 12 years.

For more information, contact JCCI at 904-396-3052 or by visiting www.JAX2025.org.

I'm very interested to see what comes of this.  There have been countless studies and visions mentioned on these boards.  Every time a new one is released, I can't help but wonder if it is the one that will finally gather enough support and buy-in to make a difference.

This may be different because of the level that the public has been engaged that is what made the difference for the better Jacksonville Plan.  I think the engagement creates more accountability to follow through.

did you attend any of the meetings?

as Jeffrey noted above, the public has written this thing from the ground up....and we (the public) will be the ones responsible for tracking its implementation....come Saturday and learn how you can help make this happen!

Does anyone have a report on this?

I am eager to hear how detailed the plan is and if there is something in place that will guide us to see it through.  I hope the community as a whole buys in, so the mayors and city councils of the coming decade don't have trouble staying on course.

The plan is not detailed.....because it isn't finished....it is up to all of us to implement the vision over the coming years

Fine. I can rephrase.  What was unveiled/discussed at the meeting on Saturday?

He went over the wrong bridge to get there and I know when I came to Jacksonville I have my own share of bridge stories but Duval County Superintendent Nickoli Vitti brought the house down. It was a standing ovation and everyone kept clapping as he was still heading out to wherever he was heading to next. I want more of that Vision.

I'm disturbed that the davis appointment to the chamber of commerce was applauded when it was announced. I guess people already forgot about his insults.

I doubt most people at the JAX 2025 event knew about the mobility fee situation.

True, and it may be a big problem, if everyone there knew what we know; I'm sure the discussions would be a lot different.
