A gunman dressed in black and disguised in a classic horror movie mask leaped the counter Monday at the Burger King at 1020 King St. and robbed them, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Six employees and a customer in the drive-through told officers a skinny man wearing a black hoodie and pants with a white “Scream” mask and gloves walked in at 7:15 p.m. and pulled out a gun, according to the police report. Demanding money, the gunman jumped over the counter and aimed the pistol at two female employees as he demanded they open the cash register. Four other employees fled from the restaurant as the gunman grabbed the cash register and ran.

Police searched the area with canines but found no one. The empty cash register was recovered in a backyard on Post Street, along with the gloves, mask, hoodie and handgun, police said.

Strange.  The gun was probably worth more than the cash in the register.

Stolen guns are free. So he probably made off better with the cash in the register and ditching the gun.
