Title: Cannon blast?
Post by: 5pointy on April 20, 2013, 08:18:27 AM
8 am. Loud speakers and a ? Cannon blast here in 5Points. Johnny Cash blaring Ring of Fire. What the he!! Is going on? I like Johnny as much as anyone, but hey 8 AM on a rainy Saturday is a bit much.

Is there a noise ordinance that regulates how early these things can start, and how loud they can be?

I've heard the City noise ordinance is nothing before 7a and nothing after 7p...that sounds scary from a psychopathic standpoint if you think about the cannon blast (?) and choice of song.  Do you have any wannabee terrorists living nearby?

Turns out it is the Stride for Pride 5K Run that got off to an early and loud start. Agree that with recent events, cannon blasts a little unnerving.

Everybody was having a good time and it finished fairly early.  If you are still asleep at 8AM, you don't have a dog.

Lots of cheering, laughing and high-fives.  Bunch of the runners ended up at the breakfast places around Riverside/Avondale afterwards.

Walked the dogs over to watch and they were very puzzled and a little worried about all of the crazy humans running and clapping.  Didn't want to get too close.
