Title: Some Good News about TU's Investigative Reporting!
Post by: Cheshire Cat on April 11, 2013, 06:37:01 PM
This is a little tidbit that I am very excited to share.   The timing for the continued expansion of the investigative reporting and recent upgrades are very heartening.  Good investigative work by media can do much to level the political playing field, keep some folks honest and at the same time keep citizens informed as to what may be going on in government and other areas that impacts them and their tax dollars.

The new hire for the department has me clicking my heels!
Retiring FBI agent Jeff Westcott will be joining Adam Kealoha Causey and me on the TU's investigative unit.
Timothy Gibbons will become business editor, and Topher Sanders, who will cover the Mayor's Office.
This is great news!

Thanks  IILU but I have always been an independent operator who has on several occasions helped and worked with a variety of agencies locally when asked.  lol  However the inclusion of folks with the understanding of how to investigate as learned via the FBI is a win for the TU and the community.  Let's hope the TU really turns the investigative team loose in Jacksonville.  We desperately need the oversight and I am betting this type of reporting will bring the TU more readers.  I am convinced of that.

Of course you can do that, but I would also recommend sending a nice email to Maryilyn Young at the T.U. and let her know you are supportive of and excited by the expansion of investigative reporting.  ;)
