By no means is this official, but the word on the street is that Bold Bean Coffee is looking for a second location and they have shown interest in the Springfield area. Springfield does already have Three Layers and Kool Beans. My argument for bring on one more coffee shop is that Bold Bean could offer something different. Three Layers doesn't open until 10. I usually want my coffee way before that. Kool Beans has to figure out what it wants to be. Does it want to be a St. Augustine style restaurant or a cafe, either way it faces some problems. Bold Bean has solidified itself as the premier coffee location in Riverside, and I'll take riverside hand me downs all day.
Please sign this petition and help Bold Bean make the right decision. http://www.change.org/petitions/bold-bean-please-open-in-springfield-where-you-will-rake-it-in-and-be-worshipped-by-all# (http://www.change.org/petitions/bold-bean-please-open-in-springfield-where-you-will-rake-it-in-and-be-worshipped-by-all#)
LOL! Thanks for cheering me up with that petition this Monday morning. :)
Well I hope you signed it. We are trying to send a message to the guys at Bold Bean that their is support in the community for them to locate in the neighborhood.
They should open a location DT near the Omni for the next time Peter King is in town. :-D
I would actually not be hurt if Bold Bean decided to open a location downtown instead of Springfield. Springfield could use the business, but downtown location would expose the coffee shop to a larger audience, which they could totally Springfield still benefits from anything going on downtown.
Bold Bean in "The Pearl" on Main/1st.
Great parking, lots of traffic to and from downtown.
I would love to see them in Avondale and am prepared to take on the "I Love Avondale" group to get this done. lol
Great idea Iloveionia!
I also think that the old Jeep store would make a great location. There are really a lot of options. First we need to win them over with support from the community.
Sign the petition! This would be a great catalyst for Springfield and I think Bold Bean would be a huge hit there. I live in Avondale and am always looking for things to do in other neighborhoods for a change of scene. Plus, the Riverside store is getting kinda crowded. The old Jeep store on Main Street would be great (kudos to Mathew)--lots of room for outdoor cafe-ing.
i love chamblins coffee but i would be cheering for a downtown bb thats open late.
The old jeep place may have environmental issues since it used to be a gas station and has been being used as an automotive place...not sure, but maybe an issue. Also, I know a lot of coffee shops have struggled in Spr because there just hasn't been enough biz - that is why Three Layers expanded what it sold and cut its hours. I would love a Bold Bean here, but it maybe hard pressed to find enough business to make it worth while...love to have it though - theyve got the best coffee in town and love their beer selection too
In my opinion, they should go into the location where "FUSION" once was, on Pearl Street and 8th.
In the old A and P grocery store location.
It is already set up (despite the "Condemned" sticker on the window) for this type of retail and is close enough to Shands (less than 2 blocks) to pick up that crowd.
Where is this petition I can sign?

Whether or not they brew it well, I'm not sure (I've never had it), but Chamblin's serves a Bold Bean blend. They also serve Sweetwater (think it's Midnight Oil).
They have to go where people actually are, not where a select group wants them to be. Upper Main in SPR gets hardly any foot traffic at all. As cool as it would be to see something like this in one of those old buildings on Main or in an old warehouse, I just don't think the area is quite there yet. It could have been, but thats another discussion.
They wouldn't put another one in Riverside (including Avondale), so my money would be on downtown or San Marco. I could be wrong though.
Only 6 people have signed the petition...not a good sign Springfield, not a good sign!
I think the point is Springfield needs something Bold and local and good to get it's commercial sector humming. Stockton street wasn't exactly foot traffic central. Just look what Bold Bean has done and in such a short time. Since they have expressed some interest in Springfield, why not show some support?
Well the intention was to boost the numbers with metro contributors. Maybe it reflects more on metro posters.
Thanks everyone for all the support! Although we love the Springfield neighborhood we have no plans to open a shop in that area at the moment. We'll keep you posted if this changes anytime. Thanks again.
Any expansion plans for other areas in Jacksonville on the horizon Zack?
The Three layers cafe and wine cellar are very similar to Bold bean. It's a popular cafe and won Best Of before Bold bean opened. Support it. With density of people comes amentities. With good landlords come opprotunities. Work on density and getting the Main street landlords off there butts and good things happen.

I don't really want to discuss our business plans on an open forum but it is encouraging to see demand for our product from all sides of town. We're excited to see what the future holds. :)
