I noticed this last week when I was walking. Are these staying up year round or what? Now maybe this is the result of budget cuts, but please tell me they aren't actually lit up at night. I do love Christmas, but it's March...time to move on.

Hilarious. Haven't noticed this.
We were just talking about this last night as we were driving home.
Volunteers, including Councilman Jim Love, put them up. Maybe they haven't been able to get the bucket truck back to take them down.
Christmas decorations...in J'ville? Oh good god NO. That indicates that we are a backwards Christian town. No one will want to live here or bring their business here. No no no. We can't have this. ;D
Huh? I thought candy canes were one of those winter solstice decorations.

Sadly I can see some jaded negative Nanny who's isn't being sarcastic actually saying something like that; It would'nt surprise me at all. LOL
Jacksonville is about the only the only city in the country that DOESNT decorate for Christmas. Look at our downtown during the holidays, it's terrible. Not as a remember it as a child.
I was thinking the same thing. It's nice that they put them up but at what point will they start weathering and not work. I cant imagine they were made for year round? Maybe Im wrong.
Happy to report that the candy canes are no longer up. I noticed Jim Love's son taking them down a few days ago...

No bucket truck necessary, waste of money. We use a self-supplied ladder and screwdriver and store it at the State Farm office. I had an emergency arise Friday (GF's Mom came into town), so I didn't finish completely. I'll get the remainder (between Park and Herschel) on Monday.
Hilarious that "girlfriend's mom coming into town" is an emergency
