For anyone who is a ska or reggae fan, you might want to come check out our show on April 4th. We have Florida Ska legends Skif Dank up from Daytona. We also have very talented Jackmove down from Virginia Beach, a great ska band out of Fernandina Beach called General Tso's Fury, and Jax Beach ska band Forced Culture.

sounds like its going to be a good time.
It should be a very fun show. Its also the birthday of my partner in crime, Big Jim. He posts here as Soxfan, so everyone make sure you come tell him he is getting old!!!
Just a reminder, this Friday is SoxFans Birthday party!!! Come on out!
Here are the bands we booked for his party!!!
Skif Dank (http://www.myspace.com/skifdank)
General Tso Fury (http://www.myspace.com/generaltsosfury)
Jackmove (http://www.myspace.com/jackmovevabeach)
Forced Culture (http://www.myspace.com/forcedculture)
This place is hit or miss.
Happy Birthday, whoever you are! Hope your party is better than whats usually there.
Sorry you had a not so great experience. Its too bad you werent in this last friday night. We had the place packed from about 8:30 on. 300 plus people. Great bands, great fans, and its only going to get better from here.
If you have some suggestions for bands we need to invite in, please fire me off a private message. We are very interested to hear what people like. I have been thinking about working with a local hip hop promoter to see if we can bring in some of his artists to play in other types of shows. Mix is up some...
We also have several acoustic shows coming up, including a very cool band out of Baltimore called The Apathy Eulogy. They are playing on April 17th with a great Jax Christian rock band called Dont Sigh Daisy (they played the past friday), as well as local pianist Pilar (like Tori Amos, only a little harder edge) and an acoustic set by Locust Grove. In May we have Christina Wagner with Laurel Lee and Shawn Lightfoot coming in all well worth the price of admission to see ($5/$8 over/under).
We have some punk stuff coming in with local bands like Whaleface and Doesitmatter. We have bands from as far away as Cali and NY coming in with Code Anchore in April and XOversa in May.
This month we have bands from all over the state. Skif Dank from Daytona, Lipona from Tallahassee, Broken Self from Tampa, Residual from St Augustine.
We might not pack it every time, but I am really excited for the future. Jax has a surprisingly vibrant music scene, and even though we have the fact that Main St is torn up working against us, we seem to bring in a fair number of people more often than not.
As far as this friday, if you like happy music and horns, then 9th and Main will be the place to go.
Thanks for telling us about this. A buddy and I went and had a really good time. It was the first time I've been to 9th & Main. It's a really nice place.
Great to hear!!! Last nights show was a lot of fun. I am a big ska fan, so I have been looking forward to this show for a while.
Thanks for coming out!

I haven't seen a ska show since the old "Punk vs. Ska" show at the Paradome where Reel Big Fish battled it out with Yellowcard before they went big. Man, those were the days....
