Urban Neighborhoods: Detroit's Indian Village

The City of Detroit is nationally known for its struggles with white flight and urban blight.  However, the city still is home to it's share of impressive urban neighborhoods featuring well manicured lawns and tree lined gridded streets.  Today, Metro Jacksonville takes a brief tour of two: Detroit's Indian Village and West Village Historic Districts.

Many of these buildings look exactly the same as buildings all through the old areas of Jacksonville.  I am sure so many of them are pictures of local places that it is crazy.

Very cool. Great piece. I will be in the 313 in May for DEMF and looking forward to making the cultural rounds :) Just an FYI I make those rounds on the bus!

Glad to see this.  Just from what we often hear, we can easily think that Detroit is a wasteland with everything gone.  ANd yes, lots of hints at what we can see in our own city.

Beautiful neighborhoods...and the prices will take your breath away (as in, compared to everywhere else they're so low)!  But before you're tempted to give Mo-town a try, read this to keep things in context!

Hey, I was surfing the net the other day and came across the artice you did last year on Cincinnati. Cool to see. I like how you keep the residents of Jacksonville informed of what's going on around the country. I wish our city did the same. Anywho there's a website I think you all might enjoy, its called Cincyimages.com  It has a gallery of pics of our city and some of its neighborhoods, as well as many other cities.
