I can't believe we're not talking about this case. Looks like State Attorney Angela Corey will be personally prosecuting Michael David Dunn in the death of Jordan Davis. Next hearing will be March 19. Thoughts?

Corey confirmed Tuesday that she will be prosecuting Brevard County resident Michael David Dunn along with Assistant State Attorney Erin Wolfson. Corey attended a pretrial hearing for Dunn on Tuesday and spoke for the prosecution in front of Circuit Judge Suzanne Bass.

Is he still going to rely on the stand your ground law as a defense or do we not know at this point? I read about this on Yahoo or something, but then nothing. A friend posted something on Facebook the other day about how it would've been Jordan Davis's 18th birthday.
On a separate note, the lead sentence in that story makes it sound as if Corey will be prosecuting both Dunn and the Assistant State Attorney. Tough boss!

I think it remains to be seen about the SYG defense. Considering this is going to trial, the defense has no reason not to appeal to everything in the book. Either way it really comes down to how well they can argue that he thought he saw a gun and felt threatened.

I agree, I also think that Corey is going to have a difficult time proving the first degree murder charge. I can see second degree but I don't see how any reasonable jury could convict him of first degree murder.
^I think the argument for first degree murder is that the attack constitutes aggravated child abuse, making it felony murder. In this state either felony murder or premeditated murder can constitute a first-degree murder charge.

It does strike me that this guy might have plead if the charge was lower, and thereby avoided a trial.
