I probably won't say much, but here I am. Live in Springfield, grew up mostly in Riverside, and have worked Downtown for nearly ten years. Always read the site, even turned my boss onto the site, but never visited the forums much :D

Welcome to the forum....glad you decided to join.
welcome to the site, Teresangel.
welcome...what topics you interetested in teresangle?
A friend's link to the Annie Lytle thread convinced me to join the forum, so preservation is important to me. Things like keeping and bringing money and businesses downtown, bemoaning "the old days" of Five Points, etc. Wal Mart is bad, mom and pop's are good (I work for a company with three employees). Handling the intricacies and issues that are Springfield. World domination. You know, the usual ;)

Wal-Mart is not bad, people want lower prices. Is that Sam's fault.
Let me know if you need a sidekick in you world domination plots. I've been trying for years to no avail. Maybe you'll be more sucessful? ;)
Welcome aboard!

You're right. And look how many jobs exist in this town due to how many of them there are. Not to mention how indispensable they are to those of us who mostly exist on a graveyard shift schedule. To say Wal Mart is bad is tempting in it's simplicity.
On a more expensive note, a lot more expensive note, how's the Whole Foods coming along in Jacksonville Florida?
The old Publix has been torn down, and the new, replacement, Whole Foods
is under construction.
Welcome Teresangel.
I hope you find your time on the forum rewarding. Its nice to learn that a lot of people have the same concerns and share opinions on issues critical to downtown and Springfield. Preservation and commerce are certainly the two biggest.

Are you talking about the old Publix in the Office Depot plaza at Hartley? If that's the one, I work across San Jose and have been trying to figure out what was being built there. :)
I heard a Whole Foods is going there. Whole Foods isn't doing so good these days I heard.
