Metro Diner is going to open a new location this spring at the Roosevelt Mall in the old Harry's Seafood location. Our waitress today said they hope to have it open by April. Here's a picture of the placemat announcing the new store:

Nice!
Great!!
Yum! I always loved their eggs benedict. Great restaurant.
That will be nice - I'd heard rumors of them going in a little farther south in the old Sarnelli location near Kingsley (OP) - doubt that's the case now. They'd still kill it in the Fleming Island area...
I'm glad something is going into that spot.
This is beyond fantastic! That strip needs some life!
VERY exciting! I was hoping something good would go in that spot! Thanks for sharing.
JUST began to feel safely optimistic about this!
spoke to one of the crew handling the redesign, subdivision, and relocation of the HVAC/R and kitchen!
THIS^
is a perfect fit and will be welcomed with open arms, hungry tummies, and butts in seats!
I hope the green neon is splashy and everywhere and helps breathe life back into planet smoothie as well!
Thank you, Mark and John!!
looking forward to your meatloaf!
Bring IT ON!
I understand June is the target, however I am looking to find out if the new location will "front" the Boulevard, or the south parking lot nearer Belk.
I just hope the arduous endeavor and final product is an attention grabbing immediate success, as I am sure it will be!
Splendid!
Marvelous!

Will my credit card info continue to get stolen every time I eat there, or are they planning on discontinuing that at the new location?

Just went by Chick-fil-a for some breakfast and my head turned twice because the there was a sign on the building across from Belk that said: "Metro Diner"! I had no clue this was happening, so excited!
Anyone know what is going in next to Metro Diner on US17? Large Dumpster outside, some have rumored a bank, but there is no drive-thru, so I doubt that.
I was hoping for another Metro Diner... 8)

Yeah they had a 45 minute wait last Saturday at 10:30!
Luckily Chick-Fil-A is next door ;D
Metro Diner's business model is to deliberately have too little seating for projected number of customers so when people drive by, people will say "LOOK!!! There is lot of people waiting to eat there, it must be a great place."
Their original diner near San Marco just ran out of space. Now they are turning into a chain and still have too little seats for projected capacity.
Which begs the question, are they really that good? Or do people see a line and automatically think it's a great place?
Metro Diner was a great place when it was one location. I'm sure Applebees was a great place when they were one location. Then they turned themselves into a chain and because Pukelebees. Hope that does not happen to the Metro Diner.
I find their employee t-shirts most humorous. What does it say? "Where the locals eat."
Places where locals eat usually don't need to advertise it's where locals eat.
just sayin'
^^^That's so true. Hell, look at the lil' chicken wing joint on Myrtle Av near Grothe St. Place doesn't even have a damn sign! Now that's where the locals eat. :)

LOL! And the Fox and Waffle House do the same thing, you have a line standing out the door because there are not enough seats. Really, LOL!!!!
