Urban Trends We Hope Die in 2013

According to The Atlantic Cities journalist Emily Badger, our transportation landscape is increasingly fragmented into single-mode interest groups who behave as if transportation infrastructure is a zero-sum game that can only be won by one form of locomotion at the expense of all the others. Here is a collaborative list of emerging trends across the world's major cities that the popular urban policy organization would like to see die in 2013.

I don't understand what a handful of those actually mean. But that aside:
Relating to item number one, I would like to see more cyclists follow the rules of the road (or as we call it over here, the highway code) and stop at red lights, stick to the road (and stay off of sidewalks), etc. And I'd like to see more pedestrians look both ways before stepping off the sidewalk. On top of that, I'd like them actually not expect a cyclist to slow down for them and realize that the cyclist should be treated the same as any other vehicle in the road.
As both a cyclist and a pedestrian, I think learning to commute correctly by whatever your chosen method can go a long way to reducing the friction.

Yeah, subway grinding is pretty horrible. Since our mass transit vehicles don't get that crowded, that's hard to pull off in Jacksonville.
Skyway was pretty crowded after the fireworks last night ... well, this morning.
They like hybrid cars. They don't like moving away from hybrid cars.
