It's really sad, but not surprising at all especially when 2 of our wonderful residents have met success by being a part of 2 of the top-rated reality television shows, The Biggest Loser, and America's Next Top Model. Before you celebrate about the top model part, the girl from Jacksonville (on this season's show) is the "plus-size" model.
What's wrong with a plus size? I mean as long as it's not unhealthy.
What's wrong with it? When you're under the age of 16, that's what's wrong with it. No 14-16 year old girl should be wearing a size 14...age should never equal your pant size. That IS unhealthy.
Seriously, she's 14 and wearing a size 14? Are you saying then it's okay if you're a boy? ;) Do you got a snap of this?
I didn't say SHE was 14 and a 14, I said that's when "plus size" becomes "wrong." She claims to be a size 8. But a size 8 by today's standards is far different than it was even just 10 years ago. I have a pair of size 6 jeans I bought and fit perfectly into in 1998. Today, all the clothes I have say size 6 but I can't pull those old jeans over my knees. The measurements are completely off too...the waist and hips in all my new clothes are far larger than those jeans. If you go further back in time to the '50's, a size 8 had a 36" bust and a 27" waist. Just from the pictures, I would guess her waist is around 39-40". But, that's really neither here nor there. I was merely making the point that the obesity and inactivity of our city is not surprising to me at all.
I'm a size 38 and I am 6'6 250 muscular and big bones.
