SALT LAKE CITY, Utah â€" Utah Transit Authority’s new FrontRunner South commuter line between Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah, will open to the public tomorrow with special train service. The $850 million line is the third of five taxpayer-funded transit projects voters in Salt Lake and Utah counties approved in 2006. The remaining two TRAX light rail lines to Salt Lake City International Airport and Draper, Utah, will open next year.
The public can ride the new line tomorrow free by donating a canned food item. Trains will run every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Regular fares will be charged to ride FrontRunner trains north of Salt Lake City.
Regular service on the new line begins Dec. 10.
