Title: Downtown Merchant Collective
Post by: kreger on December 11, 2012, 07:04:04 PM
I'm puzzled as to why there isn't a real collection of all downtown merchants. I've come to learn that Downtown is only worth visiting during special events. There seems to be all kinds of different studies, pub crawl things, and authorities but what about a collective effort on the part of every merchant to make downtown a happening spot every single weekend? I'm always surprised at the number of businesses that are closed during events like Artwalk or holiday festivals. Are they just not aware that thousands of people are in the area? Do they just not care? For example,  I have set out to try places like Olio  and Zodiac Cafe but I can't keep track of when they are really open. I've even headed downtown for large events and found some of the usual popular places closed. What's up with that? Downtown, I'm desperately trying to enjoy you. Why won't you let me?

I have advocated for a DT Merchant's Association on here for years.  DVI is needed too, but it's not the same thing.
