I have lived in the largest federally protected historical district for almost two years now and if there is one thing I am sick and tired of hearing is that Springfield isn't for everybody. Horsepucky, This neighborhood is a picture perfect snapshot of America. Let me prove my point, and please help me provide more examples. We house:
Romney people vs. Obama. (ha ha, you lost!)
Hot Tranny messes.
Wealthy builders gearing up to build again.
Chicken loving realtors that would rather fill the hood with fowl than sell houses to first time home buyers.
The best breakfast in a bowl spot in town.
A coffee shop that opens at 10 a.m (my coffee pot loves you)
Group homes that are giving people another chance.
First Baptist well too do that want to kick out homeless people. (jerks)
Gay dad's that have adopted an adorable kid.
Prophets preaching.
Christian fundamentalist that never say hello.
The sexiest Jamaican family I've ever seen.
The Shantiest $5.00 cover bar whenever they feel like bar. (dogs allowed)
A medical center associated with one of the top Universities in the Southeast.
A cranky lady that stands out on her porch calling the police about the Shanty Town.
An old lady that had to wait 80 years to get her house painted for free.
Southern Living's best comeback neighborhood.
Black folks who hate white people.
A handful of 40y.o. plus white people that run SPAR.
A mommy group.
An outstanding Artist (MACTRUQUE)
A city council person that could give two shits unless you contribute to his bank account. (Dr. Gaffney)

Speaking of the dog park, and futuristic.... I just saw the new (kids) playground they're putting in, in what used to be the small breed area. The equipment looks awesome. I've never seen anything like it around here.

While some of your characterizations aren't correct, I agree with the sentiment. SPR is quite diverse, with a lot going on.....and on the horizon.
