Hardhitting, lyrical, beautiful and tragic.  This play by Suzan-Lori Parks is a brilliant reworking of The Scarlet Letter in the same tradition as Gus Van Sants reworked Henry IV: My Own Private Idaho.  Gritty, sexually complex, beautifully stylish amidst the rubble.  It opens this weekend at Players by the Sea and is a must do for serious theatre audiences.  Except the ones under 16 years of age.  More after the jump.
