I heard they had a soft opening this week. Has anyone checked it out?

It looks nice. The set up of the bar seating reminds me of how it was back when it used to be the Jazz bar Eclate.
I and Noli went last night. It was soft, probably because of Thursday. Its owned by Ed Wilson, the pioneer of alternative original music of Jacksonville, via the sacred Milk Bar.
While its featuring 80s,90s, 00,s alternative DJ music, Eds openminded to the direction of his club. They definitely plan to feature live music. A big plus for Jacksonville. But, then again,
Jacksonville Rocks!
I miss the Eclate days when my friend from Proton Radio threw parties there. I will miss Dive Bar. I do like the new venue Kala. I been once on a Saturday. It was a lot of fun. Good crowd with great vibe. I enjoyed the music Robert Goodman was spinning. :)
According to their facebook page, Kala is now closed. Not sure of the details.

It is closed for now... spoke with Mark last Friday... business was slow in that venue... may open again later.
none of the 3 bars at that end of Bay Street have been included on the One Spark Festival Entertainment Zone map
Why aren't they included?

good question....all other bars in the area are shown...plus the zone goes to Liberty Street and there will be a "lounge" on bay St in front of the old courthouse.
I hope that strip comes back one day. Dos Gatos is the place to be.
I planned on going there Saturday night and was disappointed to see it closed. Saturdays had slowly started to get good but I guess not good enough.
The core is in desperate need of an Indie Club.
That's ridiculous that none of the Bay Street bars on the Liberty Street end aren't involved in the festival. I'd venture to say that none of the bars do THAT good of business on a normal weekend. Maybe TSI, but that's it.
As far as an indie club, I know Wes Reed moved the indie night from Wednesdays at Square One over to LIT, though it will only be during Art Walk and not every Wednesday as it was. If that's considered indie that is...
