Title: FDOT considering $125 million tolled JTB flyover
Post by: thelakelander on October 10, 2012, 06:39:18 AM
FDOT is considering a $125 million flyover for JTB and I-95. This flyover would be toll.  FDOT will also be building a Nocatee flyover for CR 210 over US 1 and FEC tracks will cost $13 million. It is expected to be completed in 2014.

Anyone have any ideas for getting FDOT to consider adding a pedestrian/bike component that doesn't mix with vehicular traffic to allow other modes to get to land uses on either side of I-95?

so you'll have two flyovers to Nocatee within about a mile of each other?

Where would the nearest commuter rail stop be (if it ever gets built)? Phillips/JTB? If so, bike/ped would be vital to connect to the JTB corridor.

Nearest stop would probably be the JTA park & ride lot at Philips and JTB.

The US1 CR210 flyover's purpose is more to eliminate that weird jog to the south that it does west of US1 requiring you to take a left on US1 in order to continue onto CR210 east.  But yes, there will be two flyovers close to each other.  Luckily, I believe the developers of Nocatee paid for the other flyover.

No.  I believe that would fall on deaf ears.

FDOT District Seven is building a multi-use path as part of the I-275 reconstruction from Downtown to Westshore in Tampa....and they are also adding a multi-use trail to SR 60 / Courtney Campbell Causeway crossing Tampa Bay

What's the best route for it? Down the center? A multi-use path could also save future ROW for light rail up the JTB corridor.

If the plans remain the same, the best location for a multi use path is paralleling the south side of JTB. I'm away from the computer but I posted a conceptual graphic of a possible way to pull it off in an article I ran on this topic a year or two ago. I'll try and remember to pull it up later today.
