I understand James Buchanan, the 15th president, was a bachelor.
Think it could ever happen again?
There is also speculation that he was in a homosexual relationship with Sen. William Rufus King, with whom he shared a home for 15 years before he became president.

Yeah, I learned that he was thought to be homosexual. I'm just wondering if a bachelor for a President is likely in the near future...
Without suspicion of his sexual identity?
I highly doubt it. If there was suspicion back then (Andrew Jackson called the pair Miss Nancy and Aunt Fancy), I can only imagine what people would say today concerning a bachelor candidate. Look at how much speculation there was about Charlie Crist when he was governor.
I believe there will be another bachelor president, heck maybe even a married gay president. We just have to wait until our political discourse evolves to the point where we choose a candidate based on their record and character, rather than how entertaining they would be on an episode of the Kardashians. Maybe once we catch up to the 1850s!
