Title: Hemming Plaza Jewelers
Post by: fsujax on July 02, 2012, 01:42:20 PM
I stopped in Hemming Plaza Jewelers today while on my way to Subway to look at watches because mine broke. I have been in there before but, not really to buy anything. What a great experience I had, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. For no one working, dining or shopping downtown, the place was pretty full. For a minute I thought I was in a real downtown. Vystar was packed full of people as well, line all the way out to entrance. Oh and the Skyway was full. I also noticed work has begun on changing the name of the AT&T tower to Everbank.

Thanks for the tip! I love to hear about local stores I can trust. I'm actually looking for a credit union. Does anyone use VyStar and do they like it?

I've had an account with VyStar (formerly Jax Navy) since 1991. Multiple loans, checking/savings, CD's. No complaints.

I have been with Vystar since high school. No complaints. Also, give the jewelery store a try sometime.

Does anyone know if any of the jewelers in Jacksonville sell any kind of pieces that depict Jacksonville?  A watch, pin, decorative item, anything?

I have checked at Jacobs and Underwood's (San Marco) with no luck.

Well I left Vystars. There was always some BS going on with my account. On three occassions there transactions on my accounts that were not mine. And I always got the  "opps my bad" then have to wait 2 days for the money to be put back in my account. And this usually happen around the time I was waiting for checks to clear. Then the direct deposit thing started to drive me crazy. It ALWAYS was in my account at 5 o clock on Thrusday. All of a sudden, they started the "it will be in your account before midnight." If I have to wait till the next day, there is no convience factor anymore.  I was with them for 1998-2006, then I switched to a bank

Glad to hear you had a good experience at Hemming Plaza Jewelers!  I love that place.  Bought my wife's engagement ring there, as well as our wedding bands.

Juan and the whole crew there are great!

I have had a couple of fraudulent charges on my Vystar account but it's not their fault. In both instances for me, my number was compromised from somewhere. Both times, Vystar called me to verify before I even saw. And on both, they closed my account, sent me a new card and refunded me the charges.

Ive been with VyStar for years and never had an issue.  They also have the most branches of any of the local credit unions.

Wacca Pilatka, have you tried Ebay for Jacksonville jewelry?  I know its not a local store but Jacob's would have been my suggestion but it sounds like you have already tried it.

I do know someone that was selling customized plates and bowls that had Jacksonville postcards imprinted on them.  I'm not sure if she's sold them or is still trying to sell them but they were awesome!

Brooklyn South, we've been with Community First (used to be Educational Community Credit Union) since the mid-1990s, with no complaints.  Anyone can join, just keep at least $5 in Savings and that's it.  We've been very happy with them.  Good luck.
