Some may not realize that Clark Street (east of Ionia) is part of the historic district, but it is.
It once was full of cute bungalows, only a few of them remain. 1536 Clark is one of them.

This house was recently renovated, but suffered some fire damage. It will be a challenge, but we are up for the task...

ready to go.
Looks like it has a nice metal roof on it? Am I seeing that right?
Yes. New roof. Sheet metal.
Solid.
Hoo Rah.
looks like I need to make my way around there with the mower :)
Yes.
Or Dad was going over tomorrow to do it.
2nd/Walnut Court/Clark will need love on a regular basis.
This little cutie will be mothballed by mid-January.
It is cleaned out, we have an architect's report which states that it is structurally sound. It will be mothballed and "safe" for three years.
And it is FREE to a good home.
There is one hitch -- There is a $5200 tax bill due by the end of January.
If you are interested, please contact us. It would make an awesome starter home.
Save the houses.

In case you are interested and freaking out...what!!! $5200 in taxes!!! That's not yearly. When the house was donated to Preservation SOS, taxes had not been paid in quite awhile. Once this bill is paid, you would only have the regular yearly real estate taxes.
We are redeemed!! Psos will not be losing Clark st to back taxes but will be handing it off to a new and shiny future. Another house has found a home. And the taxes were paid today.
Save the houses...even those on little Clark Street.
2 down.
How many more to go?
;-)
I really am beginning to see good things in the future. For too many years I have despaired that Springfield was hopeless.

oh far from it...
I am happy to see the improvements going on. You must remember, though that at my age I have watched too many years of neglect and decay. And too many wonderful things lost to us. Hooray for the revival efforts!
we have achieved mothball status!

UPDATE: This house is currently under new ownership and renovation. The plan is to have it move-in ready by Christmas. Here are some photos from the work in progress:

Once the door frame is in place, it might be out of the way. If not, they are certainly easy enough to move at that point.
