Title: As Jacksonville grows and new high rise buildings are constructed, do you think

it's feasible to consolidate parking garages directly into the base structures of the buildings? Similar to this building in Los Angeles http://www.cityview.com/images/sublevel/portfolio/sm_1100_wilshire.jpg

I think it would be a great way to conserve space without having to go underground, although I would hope it could be done more seamlessly than this.

I think there may have been a similar discussion postd here recently.

There are already examples of this type of construction all around Jax.  The most recent are the Strand and Peninsula on the South Bank.

The Bank of Ameirca Tower too.  Floors 2-8 are parking. True, the garage also extends past the Tower, but it goes under it too.  And it has 1st floor retail, even in the non-tower portion on the Bay Street side.

The old Robert Meyer also had a basement garage, before the whole thing was thoughtlessly imploded.
