I've never seen Lost, but I, like many others, heard of 52-year-old Lost star, Dough Hutchinson marrying a 16-year-old girl last year (though, she looks 40 years old with all that surgery). I'm sorry, but the pair looked creepy to me.
I've seen 86-year-old Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner draped with several, young blonde women.
Saw an episode of MTV's True Life depicting self-proclaimed "sugar babies" pursuing older men and women with fat wallets.
On an episode of Millionaire Matchmaker, two millionaires cracked me up. A male millionaire in his forties obsessively insisted on getting set up with a young woman, which led Patti, the matchmaker, to ask "Is sixteen to young for you?" Another forty plus female millionaire also had a thing for young men, however Patti set her up with a handsome man in his 40's. When the millionaire saw her date she literally ran away from him like she saw a monster.
So, what is it with older men chasing after women young enough to be their daughters? Leaving wives they've been married to for over 20 years to chase a young tail with no brain?
My thoughts:
Insecurity: they have reached an age where they aren't the young-looking, hot stud anymore so having a young gal on their arm makes them feel like they still got it?
Reproduction: they want kids and a woman their own age isn't going to make it happen.
Intelligence: they want to feel like the smartest person of the pair, because they know they can't outsmart a woman their own age who has been there, done that.
Aesthetics: According to a lecture done in one of my classes last year, a woman's role is not only to maintain her household, but also look as youthful as she can for her husband.
How about the gold diggers? The young girls who go after older, rich men. Do these men know deep down they are being duped and just go along with it for the sake of arm candy or do they believe they are really in love?
Possibly? Mind you, these are just silly opinions of mine that come and go. I know not all older men pursue young women for these reasons and a couple can genuinely be in love despite their age difference. Heck, I'm 21 and my boyfriend is 27. Plus, there are still plenty of great-looking older men out there (Richard Gere is absolutely gorgeous!) So, no judging here! ;)

There's a lot of cougars out there as well and guys who dig older women. When I was in my early twenties it used to bother me but now I keep my nose out of other people's business. So far as I'm concerned as long as both parties are consenting adults, they can do whatever they want to do. Now if you're some Chester-the-Molester who targets underage girls, you should be thrown under the jail.

I just came back from Rome and it seems like every other guy is some old guy with a very young (and beautiful) younger women around his arms. Maybe we are just catching up to Italy.
Generally I would say older people date younger people for looks and younger people date older people for money. It is probably not about your idealistic thoughts of romance and partner ship. Here is the good news there are billions of people on the the planet so different strokes for different folks. Whatever makes you and your partner happy. Now my advice is have a little fun with someone in a different age group but it probably won't work as a marriage.

I don't think an older adult hooking up with a younger adult should be viewed as them being insecure. I probably fall in line with agreeing with BridgeTroll that the sexual attraction factor may play a higher role than either party being insecure.

Well, maturity plays a role in that. Some women find older men to be more mature than boys their age, if I do say so myself.
(Though not all older men are mature)
They complain less.
They make a man feel younger.
They put out like rabbits and do all of the things that old(er) women won't do anymore.
Only a woman would take something so simple and try to make it complicated!!! LoL! ;D

I have no problem with it, sometimes the boobs are just sagging too low for one's taste.
I don't know about any of that. Some of it is just freaky.
I do know that at 60 there are fewer active women than sedentary women. Although not slim I do get out fishing, kayaking, snorkling, camping and biking. It is nice to be able to still be active with a lady friend.
Its common sense....women today (not all obviously, but a lot) have been hand fed and given everything by their daddies that when they are in their early to mid 20s and things arent working out for them and daddy gets tired of his daughter(s) maxing out his credit cards, they dont know what to do. Theyve never had to work hard in their life, so they do the next best thing, find a man, usually the same age as their dad with money and they never have to work again. It happens way to often.
Old men with much younger women? I support it.
