Don't get me wrong, CH4 is by far my newscast of choice, they have it locked down, but are they really "the local station?" They have little (or close to no) local content compared to WCWJ (ch17). Here's a list:
WCWJ:
- Sharks football
- JU Dolphins football
- Jax Rollergirls
- Local haunts
- Your jax music
- I know jax
- The void
- Your jax foods
- The willow
- In the pits (cancelled?)
- The suns
- The jacksonville giants
CH4:
- Making Moves
- This week in jacksonville
- Morning show
- Multiple newscasts
Did I miss anything? I have to give credit to CH4, the morning show is 4.5 hours, add in the lunch and evening news casts and you have a lot of hours worth of local programming per day, but how about some variety?
Edit: added in the pits, giants & sun
Ch4 will have some of the dumbest stories in the world. I switched from them to Action News 30/47, I like their people more and I am always catching errors on TV with 4, just last week they spelled Ft. Myers, "Ft Meyers", but mistakes happen, the weatherperson on the weekends on Action News mispronounced Bimini as if she had no idea of how to pronounce it. I do like the Barz, Barz, Lopez team in the mornings, but I do like Nikki and Richard from Ch4, so I switch back and forth while running. Tom Wills needs to retire, I don't see him as a credible newscaster any longer. Gianoulis left when she was still on top, he needs to go soon too, or maybe Ch4 will roll him out like they do Winterling when they need a ratings boost.
Why would you say Tom Wills has no credit? Did he give a bad report (dan rather style?) or something?
Let's be honest though, they ALL have dumb stories, the worst of all the news chans has to be first coast news. Their top stories are non-stories, murders and other stories that matter come at about 10 minutes in to the broadcast. Barz Barz and pocket squares are good though:)
A bit back on topic - why are there not more local programs on the "local" station?
No TV in my house. My news is absorbed in the traditional way, via the divinations of augurs and auspices. Also the internet and NPR.
Channel 4 still seems to have the hottest newsbabes, but lately 30/47 seem to be catching up. ;)
For the first post, Channel 17 also airs Jacksonville Giants and Jacksonville Suns games.

Thanks, I've added both.
I noticed that ch4 has lots of infomercials throughout the work week, ch17 doesn't really.
