I was sent this by a friend who saw it on a national sports message board, where of course it was being mocked.

Please let this just go away.
What an embarrassment. Please tell me that a high school tv class produced it and that no funds/time/effort was put forth by anyone who has any idea about marketing our city. And then tell me that the students in that class all got F's.
A jaguar kitten just died somewhere.
I also noticed that the intern in the video has much longer hair in one of the clips, so this must be more than just something they threw together in a day.
I can't imagine Khan and the Jags marketing department will be thrilled with this. If you weren't from Jax, you would think this came directly from the Jags organization. As if we didn't already have the small time perception...
From Cindy Laquidara, to Blackmon, and now this? It's been real tough to be a Jags fan lately. SMH....
wow...just wow
Not so bad for youtube publication....the next level will just have to be to set it to 'call me maybe' and we've got it!
You're kidding, right? Right? Please God, say yes. How embarassing...
OH... MY... God... :o ::)
Do you need an entertainment license of some sort to do the Jaguaring? Will people walk down the streets Jaguaring on the way to the games? I'm thinking' "yes" to both.
Ticket sales will go through the roof once this gets out - better get your season tickets while you can.
Question for Terri Lorince: I pay a bit more in property taxes to support DVI. Did some of my tax dollars get used for this? Yes? Can I get a refund?
Can I just go run off the Bank of America tower after watching this rubbish, giant-pill-swallowing-shoveling-down-your-throat, what-the-f***. ridiculously-made, bloody hell video?

OK, that is pretty bad. Can I have my two minutes back?
Harmless fun, but I hope they're sending royalties to Lady Gaga. The "claws up" pose is a lot like her "paws up" pose. ;)

I agree with everything you said except for this part. On the internet no one likes anything. If this had been produced by a Boy Scout troop you'd have people calling for the scoutmaster's resignation and public beating. But otherwise, yeah.
No, it's not harmless fun. The Jags already have credibility issues. Now the fans do. Thanks DVI.
Whomever okay'd this should be sacked. Plain and simple.
I believe the project meeting went like this:
DVI Meeting Leader: We're gonna make a video!
DVI team: Yay!
DVI ML: It's going to be super lame! We'll show people how to do the Jaguar!
DVI Team: What's that, like doggy style, but with cats?
DVI ML: No silly team, it's the Jaguar pose that nobody in their minds would ever do. It'll make us all look like asshats!
DVI Team: Yay! New hats!
**this is not the actual transcript. I removed the names to protect identities.
Although, now I'm tempted to make a video called Do the DVI. It follows a guy around as he blows public funds.
Ok, I'm done.
How do you delete the Internet again ?
What I would like to see DVI do is commission an artist to freshen up the painting on the Bostwick building. It's really cool and contributes to our local culture and civic pride.
ALSO, why can't DVI find a building and have a contest where the selected artist gets to paint a new Jags mural on a wall downtown? Great publicity for the Jags, the Core, and doesn't cost much. Who's with me?

I agree its totally harmless, but the problem is that Downtown Vision created it. If this was just some high school kids trying to create a funny video, I don't think anyone would be critical.
Downtown Vision operates on a budget of over a million dollars of public money and a lot of people think they are a pretty useless organization. Terry Lorrince has filled a staff with marketing type people, yet this is the type of marketing ideas they put out?
They should be more concerned with actually marketing downtown, creating new events, bringing in new businesses, etc. Not trying to drum up interest in the Jags, who are more than capable of marketing themselves.
If thats their budget & this is the kind of crap they're putting out, then they shouldn't exist. Period.
Even when you overlook the lame content (and yes its incredibly lame), the production values are horrible. It looks like it was shot on a cell phone from someone with Parkinson's & edited in microsoft movie maker. For God sake, the least they could do is put a mic on their subjects. That's producing 101.

That video is making us look bad. International Business Times called it a black eye for the franchise. I don't like to criticize other people's work but it's reflecting poorly on us.
This is the type of thing that is so shockingly bad that, if it were to catch fire someplace in the online social sphere like Reddit or Tumblr, it could truly do significant damage. I can already see the national sports talking heads ironically Jaguaring to mock the franchise after poor performances. If I'm the team, I would send an immediate cease and desist. For many years, it hasn't been cool to be a Jags fan even in Jacksonville itself. The team routinely ranks last in national popularity. You can't be carelessly putting stuff like this out there and giving the implicit impression that the team and city are on board with it. This is an NFL franchise, not a Southern League old timers baseball team. If DVI actually finds this video clever and funny enough to put their name on, and (even scarier) if they believe it will somehow drum up support, our downtown and tax dollars are in truly bad hands.
I deleted DVI off my bookmark toolbar because of this.
I'm afraid to see this because once seen, I'm sure it can't be unseen!
It would be funny if the team did really well this year and then suddenly it would be ironic. Oh well, we can dream! :)
Who thought this was a good idea???
By the way, this thing is spreading and being mocked at every stop.
This is the same stupid shit that Cleveland pulled to try and make Lebron not leave. Apparently it gave him more reason to leave.
This is honestly THE most horrendous thing that I've seen in a while.

Yet we can be pretty damned stupid sometimes.
Pardon my grumpy ass, but this is not my kind of silly. The Jacksonville Jaguars would like you to "Jaguar"â€"a practice that negates your chances of ever getting into any place cool if you do it...even once.
They decided to get the world to Jaguar by releasing a two-minute instructional video of old farts and goofy people making like a nerded-up Jaguar and bending a knee.
Oh, dear....

QuoteIf you'd have asked me before today what it meant to "Jaguar," I wouldn't have had a clue. If there was one particular act that I'd have associated with Jaguar fans, it would be sitting at home and not buying Jaguars tickets. That's pretty hard to mime, though.
Today, though, a new way to "Jaguar" has sprouted. DowntownJacksonville.com dispatched a guy in a bow tie to help spread the fad. It appears to be a distant cousin of "Tebowing," but it's much simpler, has no apparent symbolism, and is not tied to any entity that's proven successful...

Exactly why the Jaguars need to send a cease and desist.
The franchise had nothing to do with this humiliating video.
Has anyone contacted DVI and asked them to consider taking it down?
I can't believe I watched that :o Curiousity certainly got the best of me.....
the damage has already been done; doubt taking the video down would help much as this point.

Wait, let's see this play out. I think this might be a new DVI strategy. Instead of actually advocating for a better downtown through responsible and time tested small changes, they'll create something horrible for Jacksonville that needs to be destroyed and then they'll swoop in and destroy the horrible thing thereby "improving" downtown. Ingenious really.
Surely I can't be the only one who immediately thought of this when I saw the DVI video:

hahahaha, not anymore. Unfortunately, that was less creepy than the Jaguaring vid.
Fuck it, if you can't laugh at yourself. Let's hope we can remake this video in December....
http://www.youtube.com/v/ZAYJz88cqM4?
When I first watched the video, it had 1,400 views. Saturday night, I showed it to a friend (who laughed and as a Jags fan said "wow we suck") and it had 4,500 views. Just now? It's at 46,000 views. It's spreading like wildfire. I think the damage is done.
It is hard enough to be a Jaguar fan without this junk being produced by a quasi- government agency.
I guess what does not kill us only makes us stronger?
Those pesky interns!

#Jaguaring This was a light-hearted intern project, not a DVI-funded initiative. Due to negative feedback, it has been removed from YouTube.
I wonder if Weird Al Yankovic will parody Maroon Five with a 'Moves like a Jaguar' song and video.
DVI and Jaguaring... vs... everyone else... :D

I saw the video without the audio, so I don’t know what was said, or if there was music. I remember primarily several individuals assuming a crouched pose, with fingers making like a claw. And then there was a group doing some kind of dance, and again assuming the crouch with the hands like a claw.
Seems to me like they might have been trying to create or experiment with a unique brand image as happens occasionally in sports. Although I’ve never attended a football game, or watched a televised game through, I remember at some point seeing some spectators making their hands open and close like a gator. It must have been a U of F game somewhere.
Not having the audio on might have allowed me to miss the full negative impact which seems to have caused the most common response so far on this forum. I attempted to go back and view it with audio but it is gone from the site.
As it was, without audio, I thought it rather interesting, or even cute or unique, although I could never do it myself. Perhaps if they had made it with professional musicians and actors, it might have been an impressive presentation for the purpose of getting a little excitement into the Jaguar scene. I suspect there have been occasions when this kind of thing, this gimmick one might say, works well, with consequences very positive over the long term for whatever company, product, or sports team is the focus of it.
Apparently most believe the experiment was a total failure, or at least a partial failure. I suspect it could have been a success if things had been done professionally. If the idea originated with DVI, I’m sure their motive was positive, but obviously their skill at carrying it through suffered, not wanting to spend the funds for professional work.
The quick view I saw hinted that not much money was spent on the project, so the greatest loss or damage will be the damage to pride because so many individuals, at least on this forum, have engaged in bashing it. Also, I'll bet the originator of the idea will think again before going off half cocked to present something lacking professional input.
But yes…. I would like to see DVI do more about the more solid projects concerning our wish to bring vibrancy to the city core. I think they do a lot, but they can do more. The city council can do more too. And the mayor.
Yes, regarding the crouch and the claw, the Jaguar scene is a little removed from the focus of the core development, a focus which happens to be my personal interest. You guessed it… I’m not much of a sports fan.
The video has been ripped down. Great Success!
Too many people made fun of the video...it has been deleted. If you know where I can find a copy. Please let me know.
Who needs video when you can have an endless loop of jaguaring?
