Yesterday, a federal judge blocked some parts of a Florida law that would regulate voter registration by outside groups, holding that the law had constitutional issues, WSJ reported. The law, which was passed last year, contained “onerous†requirements on voter registration, according to Judge Robert Hinkle of Federal District Court, who granted a temporary injunction.
The law required voter-registration groups to turn in forms within 48 hours or risk fines, and left volunteers subject to possible felony charges if ineligible voters were unknowingly registered, WSJ noted.
The League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote, joined by the American Civil Liberties Union, sued the state, claiming the new requirements were unworkable. Judge Hinkle indicated in his ruling that the plaintiffs were likely to prevail in their argument that the restrictions violate the First Amendment and the National Voter Registration Act.

Well it's about time! When Rick Scott began this witch hunt I thought to myself this is just another way for the Republicans to cheat like they did in 2000. The voting machines of the day were junk and the rules favored the Republicans. Remember no hanging Chads could count as a vote?
