Checked out the King Street Farmers Market today for the first time. I was really impressed with the quality and mix of products. Two vendors selling great produce, three vendors selling deserts (including cupcakes baked with craft beer), some really awesome Georgia olive oil, jellies, and of course lunch from Corner Taco (a slow food certified food truck). I'm sure I missed some of the items available for sale... but it's a really great use of the space (the normally empty fenced lot/parking lot in b/w Walkers/The Garage and the Riverside Antiques Market).
Ran into some old friends and chatted up with my new friends from the Salty Fig... the gastropub going in across from Kickbacks (who will also have a food truck!!) that will be styled after The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park (one of my FAVORITE restaurants in the State of Florida).
Today was a day that reinforced the sense of the community continuing in the neighborhood and really re-charged me personally.
Cari Sanchez-Potter has done some great work putting together this cool weekly event!
Every Wednesday from 11AM to 2PM.
It's a great thing for the neighborhood and Cari is an amazing organizer. Don't know how she does it all.
I made the first but haven't had a chance to get back since. Will do for corner taco alone!
Anyone know the hours/days this place is open? Didn't even know it existed, and I live only three or four blocks away!
Never mind. Answered my own question. For all: http://www.jacksonvillewineguide.com/2012/05/jacksonville-king-street-farmers-market-every-wednesday/ (http://www.jacksonvillewineguide.com/2012/05/jacksonville-king-street-farmers-market-every-wednesday/)
