Title: Tank Tops
Post by: gjosephunf on May 22, 2012, 12:57:43 AM
Hello MetJax,

Personally, I enjoy wearing tanks during the summer. In Florida, it's quite easy to dress up or down and I aim for the following looks.

Absolutely enjoy pairing suspenders, tank tops, skinny pants, and toms shoes  :).

So tell me, what do you think of tank tops?

Yes, I definitely agree about tank tops evolving from characterless designs to more vivid and elaborate patterns. I think we're seeing a shift as designers collaborate with art historians, anthropologists, and other "non-designers" to gain insight about historical trends and cultures, eventually translating texture/pattern to the runway.

^Lookbook.nu is an excellent website to gather looks and inspiration for outfits. It's "facebook" for fashion  :)

Yes, Stephen Dare! Lookbook.nu members can take photos of themselves, and broadcast their outfit to the world. Users can label where they purchased their ensemble. There's a mix of professional models, and just average individuals you would see everyday through daily interaction. Another neat website is polyvore but I personally think lookbook.nu is MUCH better.

I assume we're talking about the evolution of the wife beater?  It's interesting to see the combination of wearing the tank with a sweater during the summer.  Definitely need to have the right upper body for tanks, imo.  When did the evolution from the plain tanks begin?

Just dont try to wear a tank top to Casbah, men are not allowed. You can be a fat woman and wear one there, just not a fit man. We've been turned away several times because friend had on a tank top.
