Hello, what does "street fashion" meet to you?

To me street fashion is a city's interpretation of trends.  It's what people take from runways and magazines and make their own.  To the average person, top designer items serve as closet staples or prized possessions instead of regularly purchased labels.  Street fashion is a way to incorporate one's expensive, inexpensive, trendy and vintage clothes in a way that is creative and original.

To me, street fashion is our most fluid form of self-expression.

Shopping at Urban Outfitters.

All jokes aside, it's fashion that emerges from youth culture and trends as opposed to fashion labels.

Our fashion is usually whatever someone brings back from a trip to a major city.

well, is street fashion just for college kids. I don't see many stylish people (myself included) in the city that are beyond the age of 30.

Old, grubby T-shirts or sweatshirts. Loose-fitting pants. Ratty hat. We're talking about the homeless, right?

Street Fashion can appeal to numerous demographics regardless of age. I think in major markets (NYC, LA, Chicago, Atlanta) Street Fashion is more of the "norm." Meanwhile, in Jacksonville I think between the in-town areas, or beaches you're more than likely to find creative individuals gathering inspiration from one-another, or from friends living in more Urbanized cities, fashion blogs, etc.

Definitely check out Ari Seth Cohen's "Advanced Style" it depicts creative, individualistic fashion by showing street style "grows" with age.

Hi, I'm a Fashion Design Student (Academy of Art University) and I am a Chicago Native. I came to Jacksonville about a year ago and decided to do a street style blog during my time here. I have been up and running since September 2012. Hope Jacksonville enjoys some street style!!
