Great work! I ordered my copy through MJ when the article was posted last time. Do you know when it will ship?
Congratulations to all involved with this additional piece of Jacksonville's history. Looking forward to my signed copy.

History Press ended up having a delay in printing the book and informed us of it a few days ago. The pre-orders are being air mailed with a deadline date to be in our hands no later than tomorrow. So everyone who has pre-ordered should receive their signed books by the end of this week. I assume the orders going into book stores should reach them later this week as well.
I can't wait to get mine. I am so pumped.
Can't wait for this. Good work all.
I rented a zebra striped stretch Hummer for this event. Ill be picking up 20 people in it to go to the awards. It even comes with its own automatic red carpet roll out!

i put it on a layaway plan... should be paid off in 2050

Dang, Bob is wearing a coat and tie....never thought I would see that!
^I was definitely shocked.
Congrats gents! Looking forward to getting a copy.
And I think MetroJaxers should all chip in and buy a frame for that sweet pic of Ennis. That needs to be on a wall somewhere.

About to order 3 more copies of the book. A few friends looked through one I have opened and wanted a copy.
I hope sales of the book do well.... and that at least one of these places are spared because it was made.

I'll get you plugged in to Carl Hiaasen if you wish. Or,perhaps, even if you don't.
Many thanks to all involved in the making of this book. I finished reading it a wk ago. It brought back a lot of memories since some of these places I grew up with. I had always wanted to go to Confederate Park, but when I was younger it was not a safe place. Encouraged by the book and photos I finally made the visit. It was a wonderful experience. So beautiful. I took lots of pics. all over. The ones I took shooting down Hogans Creek, when uploaded wre great. The dirtiness, etc. was nowhere to be seen. If was like a look back into the past of what it had been. Or, hopefully, what it will be again. Checked out Claude Nolan, too.
I am now planning on reconnecting with more of the old buildings so familiar to me in their glory days. Or At least, maybe, my glory days.
Thanks again! You are all very inspiring.
Working on Cohen Brothers book now...please keep up with these projects. They need to be addressed.
Glad you liked it Big Cheese 723!
To: The Lakelander; I didn't just like it. I loved it! I am in the process of visiting a lot of the places mentioned within. I have already been to Confederate Park and was pleeasantly surprised. It had not been a very safe place for many years. Also revisited Annie Lytle. With great sadness, it is beyone hope. (In my opnion, but who knows?)

On the contrary... Annie Lytle remains a very structurally sound building.... In need, as it has been for decades, of a total overhaul. It has been terribly vandalized over the years and even with our on-going efforts to clean it up, there is a "force" in the community that continues to vandalize it.
Just in this past week , I was contacted by an interested party, and I remain of the opinion that it very definitely can, and hopefully still will, be saved.
If it can be restored, I am all for it. Last week on one of my many photo ops the front door was open again and I did take a little step inside. Didn't go any further than the front hallway, but got a look on the inside for the first time. I have been watcing this place from as far back as when it was a school. My cousin attended 7th grade there.
I know about the group tring to keep it cleaned up on the outside. In fact, a few months ago, I spoke with a man who was there doing just that. Had a very nice conversation with him. He has the fever. I think he goes on his own on Mondays. At least, that's when I have seen him there. If the weather is good tomorrow, I might join his effort....as best I can.
HEE HEE! Big Cheese, I believe you just corresponded to him, none other then the star of Annie Preservation movement, our own Timkin.
Tim, take a bow.
OCK!
I don't know who I spoke with but he was a very nice gentleman and I felt good knowing that someone cares.
I returned to Annie Lytle today and did a little clean up. Bottle, clothes and spray paint for the most part. Every little bit helps. The door is still open. Woulld have stayed longer but IT IS creepy. lol Also had a black cat prowling around me I'll be back!
The PS #4 Black Cat has watched our progress from a bit of a distance. Ock, thank you! , but I think Big Cheese might have been conversing with Ralph W. He works there some weekdays whereas my availability has been limited to weekends. Thank you, Big Cheese for your contribution to the effort....it is most appreciated :). Send me a PM and I will get you information on the effort.
Sorry for getting off topic on the thread.
