QuoteThe University of North Florida Student Union received the most accolades among Jacksonville buildings in a statewide online competition that featured 100 of the state’s architecturally significant buildings.
The Florida Chapter of The American Institute of Architects released results of its “Top 100 Buildings†competition Wednesday that had more than 2.4 million votes.
The UNF Student Union earned top billings under the “Architects’ Favorite†and “Educational†categories.
It placed fourth in the top five overall buildings in the competition, as selected by the public.
The Florida Theatre building earned top honor in the “Performing Arts†building category.

sorry, but this thread title is misleading at best...as the article states, the UNF Union ranked #4 on the list.....the overall winner is the Fountainbleau Hotel on Miami Beach.
I was referring to the architect's vote for UNF's Student Union coming in First Place. I will amend this in the thread topic.
Either way, great recognition for two Jacksonville structures.
It was selected #1 by architects. Also #1 in the education category; #4 in the popular poll ;)
Great recognition for our facilities.
It is a really nice building and one that was sorely needed at UNF for a long time. I worked at the old Boathouse in the early 2000s and spent one Spring Break cleaning that kitchen from top to bottom. Tearing that building down and replacing it was long overdue.
Although the architectural firm that designed this building has closed its doors for good.

Yes, quite disappointing, especially since I was employed there.

It happens.
Awesome news. Glad to see the old alma mater is getting some props. Might have to check out the building when I'm in town on a few weeks!
