We're very familiar with thelakelander's projects but we decided to hold off on Springfield until all our downtown options are completely exhausted. (Don't know why we're still optimistic about it!)
Springfield has people (like, actual residents), no parking meters, and great events like our monthly first Fridays, New Years roaming Cocktail parties, throwback baseball games, and countless other cool little ideosyncratic things (did I mention the Mardi Paws fund raiser for www.sacarc.org?).
That said, it isn't for everyone, and its best to know your options. Let us know where you land!
:) Welcome to the forum. Don't know why you're holding off from Springfield, it's a fantastic area with lot's of wonderful people...you should take a closer look. I've been here for over 10 years and wouldn't want to be anywhere else!
